The latest design of Inir Tiber.  The emblem at his feet also has an important meaning but I can’t tell you what at this time. Stay tuned.

The most recent design of Radames Nour.  The emblem at his feet signifies something important but what could it mean?  Things will become more clear later on.

I love surrealism.  Your interpretation can go in so many directions.
I found this to reward myself after doing some homework.

El’Lua.  A rich Enfeanin, a race of alien people within the novel.  Daughter of a very rich man.

A more recent stage in the Tiber’s design and the last upload for the day.  He is Radames’ guardian as ordered by the Queen and Oracle.  Neither men have to like it, but they have to cooperate so Radames can achieve his goals.

Sketch dump.

I listed them based on the age of the sketch.

Migsy is the name of the shouting head in the first sketch, in the second sketch, there she is with her body.  I won’t elaborate on why her head can come off right now.

Third sketch down was a result of thinking through a scene and potential conflicts.  I have a small phobia with insects, and yet simultaneously find them interesting, especially centipedes.  If there are any monsters to be fought, Tiber is the one whose going to do the deed.

Last sketch is taking an opportunity to work with a fun expression with Captain Tiber.  At the time, I was flirting with the idea that he was a commander rather than a captain.  His name and title has changed on occasion.  Poor Tiber.

All Designs (c) Arlyss Ray

Amongst the first of my designs done in July 2012 when the novel was really young.  They’ve changed quite a bit since then but color themes stayed relatively the same.
Since then, their eyebrows have been domesticated.  Radames’ anyway.

How about something a little more recent.
Radames Nour.  If only you were human.  All your problems would vanish, or so you think.

Separate character concepts for a different story that I hope to keep short.  Thought I’d dabble in something I little more fantastic and between mythological creatures that represent behaviors on opposite ends of a spectrum.

Characters to my novel.

Radames Nour and Inir Tiber respectively.  I couldn’t get into my characters or writing without designing something first and along the way.  Since their inception in summer 2012,  they have grown from their initial designs.  It’s fascinating to watch!

(I’ve posted these before, I just remembered.)  I will contribute some more primary sketches from their growing process and will hopefully get to recent designs soon.
